Shul Fishing Trip - Now Planning

 

 

First Annual Father Son/Daughter Fishing Trip!

 

Congregation Tifereth Zvi is pleased to announce

a shul Father –Son/Daughter Fishing Trip

(yes, that means you can take your daughter - limited to age 12 and under)

planned for Sunday June 21st.

 

The tentative plan for that day is to adjust the schedule as follows:

Sunday morning shiur at 5:45 a.m. (you read it right)

Shacharis at 6:30 a.m.

Boat leaves the dock in Freeport at 8:00 a.m.

 

We will have the boat until Noon, so all the fathers

can be back to help the mothers for the rest of the day.

 

Cost: $35 per person (same for adult and child) includes rod and bait.

Drinks will be provided but feel free to bring your own snacks.

so we can plan accordingly.

We need a minimum of 30 people to book the boat.

Project Extreme Breakfast

Project Extreme, a not-for-profit organization providing innovative solutions for teens-at-risk, their families, and their communities invites members of our our Kehillah to their Scholarship Breakfast this  Sunday, May 17th, 9:30 am at the home of Michael and Michelle Edery, 22 Meadow Lane in Lawrence.

For Men Only

As a follow-up to our shiur on Hilchos Gilu'ach (the Torah prohibition against shaving) of the past two weeks, please note the following for clarification:
 
Here is the current list of Shavers which ARE permitted for use 'out-of-the-box' according to Rabbi Avrohom Blumenkrantz ZT'L:

ALL of the following REMINGTON rotary shavers in the following models are ok to use 'AS IS':  REMEMBER: Any FOIL, MicroScreen or Screen shaver are NOT approved!

MicroFlex® Rotary Models: R-830, R-835, R-842, R-845, R-850, R-856 R-860, R870, R872, R-875 and R-890 (SP-16 Replacement Heads)

MicroFlex® Rotary Models: R-200, R-225, R-400, WR-5000 (SP-25 Replacement Heads)

MicroFlex™ Titanium (Pro) Series models: R510, R520, R-600, R-800, R-825, R825S, R-1000, and the Remington PowerClean™ - R-1000 (SP-27 Replacement Heads)

Titanium MicroFlex Ultra and Smart System Rotary models:
R9170, R9270, R9370, R9500, R9100, R9200, R9250, R9300, and R9350 (SP-18 and SP-21 Replacement Heads)

Conair Brand Shavers (but NOT the microscreen); Windermere Brand Shavers (they are out of business; there may be some shavers left); Norelco D-FINER Precise Shaper (D350) ONLY the trimmer part is ok to use, NOT the Foil (top part) ; Panasonic Rotary Triple Head (ONLY the rotary blades are good, NOT the Triple Blade System, or ANY other foil shaver made by Panasonic).

 2) HaRav Dovid Feinstein shlita (and many poskim who allow shavers) permits Norelco lift & cut shavers if the "lifts" are removed. 
3) As announced at the shiur, I will teach the kehillah how to remove "lifts" this morning after shacharis and before the gemara shiur (approximately 8:40 a.m.)
4) One may not use a razor anywhere where his beard grows, and the Rema rules that a yarei shomayim does not use a razor even under his throat.
5) Additional Note: According to HaRav Dovid Feinstein shlita, haircuts and music are permitted for Lag Ba'Omer beginning at Mincha time on Monday (erev Lag Ba'Omer), which is at 1:30 PM.
