Note from Sam Cohen

Here is a note from our soon-to-be Bachur HaBar Mitzvah Sam Cohen  . . .  (the pdf version with photos is attached)

Dear Friends and Family,

I have recently returned from my trip to Israel and I just wanted to take a moment to share with you the amazing experience I had visiting the Chayalim while I was there.  As you all know, for my Bar Mitzvah project I teamed up with One Israel Fund to join their Shluker campaign.

I had the unique opportunity to visit army bases posted near the biblical city of Shechem.  It was amazing to meet these young men and women who put their lives on the line everyday to protect our country.  The most incredible part was how grateful they were to us for bringing them the much needed shlukers.  The smiles on their faces and the sincerity with which they expressed their thanks was unbelievable.  We are the ones who should be thanking them for what they do everyday, rather than the other way around.

After delivering shlukers to 2 army bases, we also stopped at several outposts along the way to deliver extras to the surprised and grateful soldiers.  They took time out of their busy schedules to explain to us what they are doing and how they manage day by day.   It truly was special letting them know how much we appreciate their commitment to Israel, and also helping them in such a meaningful way.

I would like to express my awe and gratitude to this wonderful community who really stepped up and generously participated in this project.  I am sorry I was not able to personally thank everyone who contributed but I would like to let you all know how much it meant to me and to the chayalim that you all gave with your hearts.  With your help, I was able to raise over $3,400 exceeding my goal of providing an entire company of soldiers with shlukers.

I feel very proud to be part of such a wonderful and giving community and just wanted to say Kol Hakavod to all of you.  I couldn't have done this without you.

Sincerely,

Sam Cohen
